RAZR V3 outer LCD change grafix ROGERS
March 29th, 2006 under V3 RAZR. [ Comments: none ]

I hate the ROGERS logo on the phone when I open it !!! So I decided to kill it !!! I found a howto here

With your favorite seem editor find SEEM 004a_001 and changed offset 27 value to 00. After which find SEEM 0061 & 0062 and upload two SEEM files 0061 & 0062 to them.

After wich /a/mobile/system/cl.gif will be the file that is displayed on the front when you open your phone.

the resulting default motorola cl.gif picture

I replaced my file with one I edited myself… this time under LINUX

As root (su) in a graphical environment use the following command (when phone is attached via USB)

echo AT+MODE=8 > /dev/ttyACM0

Then from the same su window launch moto4lin

go to preference and change the ACM Device to /dev/ttyACM0 and press the “Switch To P2K” button. Hit Ok and return to the previous menu and hit Connect/Disconnect button, and you should be connected. Once connected hit the Update list button and find /a/mobile/system/ and upload your 96×80 GIF image named cl.gif.

Voila !!! You now have your picture in the place of the old one. (N.B.: All changes to picture settings require a reboot of the phone)

Upgrade Software on RAZR V3 [FLASH/FLEX]
March 29th, 2006 under V3 RAZR. [ Comments: none ]

I found that my V3 RAZR phone’s performance was always a bit slugish, and I read that a software update could improve my menu response time. As it turns out it was correct. This is also compatible with the unlock procedure and has no ill-effects on it.

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE RESULTING IN ATTEMPTING THE FOLLOWING !!! USE AT OWN RISK !!!

N.B.: YOU WILL LOOSE ALL YOUR SETTINGS AND CONTACTS WHEN FLASHING

I found a great this great tutorial and attempted it.

I used the following SW [direct download] from RAZR V3 Monster Packs:

S/W Version: R374_G_0E.42.10R.shx
Flex Version: GSMV3xxT677GA164
New Bootloader: BOOT0826
Language Pack: 0039
Video Recording: Capable
Stock Moto/Unlocked
[14.1 MB]
[Uploaded.Feb.20.06]

The result was a Unbranded phone, but all features were present, except any ROGERS specific settings [I.E. Browser settings and US Language Packs, still had English and others languages tho, but T9 equivalent was a bit more difficult to use]

The way around this !!! Re-Apply Rogers Settings

Do the same as above but now apply ROGERS Flexlash [direct download] from RAZR V3 Flexlash:

R374_G_0E.41.C3R_B_GSMV3VCRGR01NA120_flexlash_MOTOX.shx
Rogers Branded/Unlocked by MotoX
[4.22 MB]
[Uploaded.Jan.03.05]

Now it will be as the original ROGERS setup you remember, but with far faster menus… ENJOY

Motorola V3 RAZR UNLOCK
March 29th, 2006 under V3 RAZR. [ Comments: 2 ]

I have a V3 RAZR, but when I travel I have no desire to use ROGERS when there is such an abundance of pay as you go SIM providers globally. So I figured I could unlock my phone myself.

INGREDIENTS :
1- RAZR V3 phone [locked]
2- USB Cable for V3 [nothing special I got mine with digital camera]
3- Windows XP computer with USB ports [I prefer linux, but SW to do this is on M$, WINE not possible at the moment]

Surfing the net I found this tutorial and tried it. It works 100% w/o any damage to my V3 RAZR phone on ROGERS, but I am in no way shape or form responsible for any damage resulting it the use of this method. USE AT OWN RISK !!!

RECIPE:
1- Downgrade your bootloader to 7.D0
2- Make your FULL and PDS backups using FlashBackup [N.B.: when doing PDS backup check “Disable backup compression and support of compressed backups”]
3- Open your PDS with PDS Editor [N.B.: this is included in the FlashBackup Package]
4- In the PDS Subsidy Unlocker tab, slide the tab to Max
5- In the PDS Seem Editor tab, do the following:
5a] Seem 01C1, lower the history level by 1
5b] Then cycle the attribute (change FFFA to FFF9, back to FFFA again… or vice versa)
5c] Seem 01C3, cylce the attribute
5d] Seem 01C4, cycle the attribute
5e] Seem 01C5, cycle the attribute
5f] Seem 01C6, cycle the attribute
5g] Seem 01C7, cycle the attribute
6- Now save the PDS as a new file
7- Restore PDS with Flashbackup

Enjoy Unlocked RAZR
